Personal Notes

I am grateful to be a Steelers fan. What are the chances? 1 in 32, I guess. I could be so unfortunate as to have been born close to the city containing one of the 5 NFL teams never to go to the Super Bowl – Detroit, Houston, Cleveland, Jacksonville, or New Orleans. I have trouble imagining that state of affairs. On the other hand, it’s the seventh trip for the Steelers. I tip my hat to the Steelers ownership, the Rooney family, who has instilled two core values over the years – consistency and work ethic that brings in the desired result. Thankfully, it all happened in Pittsburgh, 95 miles from where I grew up.
Pittsburgh really needs all the help it can get. Even with the Steelers and a huge urban revitalization program, Pittsburgh’s population continues to dwindle (Toledo, Ohio’s population is now larger than Pittsburgh’s). There is a reason why there seems to be so many Steelers fans’ Terrible Towels in every city they play in – many belong to fans who are “from Pittsburgh”.
Go Steelers.
