Facts That Make A Difference


1. LONG SLUMP - The USA is still mired in the recession that officially began on 12/31/07.  That means we are in its 14th month.  In the 12 other recessions our country has experienced since 1935 (i.e., the current recession is the 13th since then), only 2 slumps have lasted as long as 14 months (source: National Bureau of Economic Research). 



2. STIMULUS - Every $1 billion spent to upgrade the country’s infrastructure creates an estimated 18,000 jobs according to an economist from the University of Massachusetts (source: Business Week). 



3. THE GOLDEN STATE- If California was a country, it would have the 8th largest economy in the world (source: AP, Financial Times)



4. FORECLOSED - US banks foreclosed on 850,000 properties in 2008 (out of 127 million housing units nationwide), more than twice the 404,000 foreclosures from 2007 (source: USA Today). 



5. IF IT HAPPENS IN VEGAS… - 1 out of every 11 homes in Las Vegas received a foreclosure filing (i.e., default notice, auction sale notice or bank repossession) in calendar year 2008 (source: RealtyTrac).
